Dressed in shades of taupe and cream with splashes of bright orange, my Deluxe Sea View Room has a floor-to-ceiling glass door that opens to my very own private terrace. With a breakfast area and a lounge chair, it's a welcome spot to read the paper with a latte and croissant in the morning.

In the lobby of the hotel there’s the Sun Casino, the only one in Monaco, I am told, that offers American games. The highlight for me, however, is lunch on the sunny deck of the Horizon restaurant, where the 360-degree view competes for attention with chef Maryan Gandon’s delicious creations, like the steamed St. Pierre steak with marjoram and fresh citrus salad.
