We like le Michelangelo and Bastion in Antibes and le Tantra in Cannes. The Château de la Chèvre d’or in Eze must be nice as well. Baoli in Cannes. Everything about it is top notch. It is exceptionally beautiful and the food is divine! My mouth is watering just thinking about the truffle lobster risotto!

If you do decide to take a day trip to Italy, go in Sanremo to “da Vittorio”.
An instituition. Don’t be taken a back from the platic chairs…I have been going there fore over 15 years and I seriously think this is better than most Michelin Star Restaurants.
If you go…promise me to try the Antipasti ( Calamar grille and stuffered with courgette flower etc…)
Da Vittorio, Piazza Bresca,16 – 18038 Sanremo Italy

If you want a really hidden secret place – you might even have difficulty finding it – far from the madding crowd:
La Quinta – outside of Plan de la Tour in the back country of the Gulf of St. Tropez. An ideal place for a romantic lunch or dinner, where you are most unlikely to see anyone you know, in the village of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. It’s like eating in someone’s private home, where the cooking is excellent and surprisingly refined and the wine cellar too. Its closed on Wednesdays and Saturday lunch-time.
La Pinede in Cap d’Ail..definitely ..very romantic and great food..
La Reserve in Nice: Art Déco…great spot!
Do not miss the Bistrot du Port (at the Nice port / West side) for an honest cuisine provencal / nicoise, and La Ville de Siena in Le Vieux Nice for their fresh handmade ravioli (made in front of you in the open kitchen) with a daube provencale comme il faut…but theses are restaurants, which are not pretentious such as lot of those mentioned before. Just honest and good value for money and no chic bisoux people.
Le Vauban in the old part of Antibes is very, very good. It’s a small, cute little place with a very classy clientele. Stumbled upon it by accident last year and had a very excellent lunch.
A hidden gem in Vieil Antibes… Le Brulot.
The downstairs seating is the best.
They usually close for the month of August for vacation, so check before you go.

We forgot to mention: Avenue 31 in Monaco (Ave Princesse Grace). They have the rare and excellent oysters called Gillardeau (simply the most delicous), which are difficult to find, even in Paris – I’m afraid, here one may see some bisoux-bisoux people (but one can always wear sunglasses to keep low-key and avoid their view), but it is still less pretentious than most of Monaco’s restaurants (terrace).
One of the other exemptions is Quai des Artistes (terrace), which excells with a reliable and solid cuisine: Try the pastry-covered fish soup (accompanied by a rare Cassis blanc) and the excellent Souris d’agneau served on top of a delicious pommes purée.
